A woman from California recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles after her 18-year-old son was shot and killed by police officers.
According to reports, officers of the LAPD were attempting to apprehend a friend of the 18-year-old man. The man, who was sitting in a parked vehicle, observed the incident and began to drive away. The officers involved claimed that the 18-year-old man ran over one of the department’s undercover agents with his vehicle, causing the officers to open fire.
The man was shot in his left arm, and the bullet then punctured his heart and lungs. He died shortly after being shot. The mother of the man is suing the LAPD and the city of Los Angeles for $10 million, stating that the shooting was negligent and unreasonable.
