Keith Bridges, spokesman for Ephraim McDowell Health, which owns Fort Logan Hospital, the hospital being sued in a medical malpractice lawsuit, released a statement on Wednesday, August 7, saying that the complaint is being “looked at” and that they stand by their physicians when they said “the actions we took were in the best interests of the infant.”
Crab Orchard residents Philip Charles Saylor and Winona Childers filed the lawsuit in July in Lincoln Circuit Court, naming Fort Logan Hospital and doctors James Miller and Naren James as primary defendants, along with Bluegrass Clinic in Stanford.
The Lincoln County parents, who filed the lawsuit themselves without the help of an attorney, alleged that the institutions and physicians involved failed to properly care for their newborn baby, who died 13 days after its birth on July 12, 2012 due to an unspecified cause.
