A construction worker is suing his employer after a platform he had been working on collapsed, causing him to suffer a 30-foot fall that broke his back and drastically changed his life.
James Lancaster was injured in the construction accident as he mixed concrete atop a platform while working for Messer Construction. The platform collapsed due to a faulty support beam, injuring him and as many as 20 other construction workers. Lancaster says the support beam had two bolts holding it in place when it should have had closer to 20. The construction company responsible and several others have been fined for failing to have proper inspections.
The subcontractor’s significant injuries have taken away his ability to work more than 20 hours in a week, reducing his income by 34%. At the same time, he is paying back medical costs for his injuries and has been on pain medications since the January accident. He says that rather than springing out of bed in the morning, he is now sluggish and has many angry thoughts.
The lawsuit is seeking an unspecified amount of damages for pain, suffering, lost wages, and medical costs. Mr. Lancaster wants to put the whole ordeal behind him and be able to provide for his family again.
When you are injured through the negligent behavior of another person or entity, your quality of life can take a severe blow. You should not have to pay for the medical costs and carry the burden of lost wages on your own. A personal injury lawyer can help you seek just compensation for your injuries.
