A Louisville Metro Police Officer possibly saved the life of a female mail carrier last week after two dogs attacked her. According to witnesses, an 80 pound pit bull mix and a rat terrier beagle mix grabbed hold of each of her arms.
The responding officer says he had no choice but to shoot the pit bull to save the woman. The dog died and the other animal is currently in quarantine. Their owner has been cited for having a dangerous animal, failure to control dogs, and failure to provide shots and license.
The woman was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. A witness says her arms were mangled beyond recognition.
